Sandro Castelli was born in 1973 in São Paulo, Brazil, where he still lives and works as a freelance illustrator. Though mostly self-taught, he graduated from a comic book/illustration oriented art school.

He's contributed regularly to some of the most important national magazines, newspapers and book companies: Folha de S. Paulo newspaper, Editora Abril (Veja, Playboy and Superinteressante magazines), Editora Globo (Galileu and Criativa magazines), etc. Among his clients are also institutions as FGV (Fundação Getúlio Vargas), FAPESP (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo), Idec (Instituto Brasileiro de Defesa do Consumidor) and MinCT (Ministério da Ciência e Tecnologia).

He was the winner of the 3rd Concurso Folha de Ilustração e Humor, in the Scientific Illustration category (2006).
